Cancel and subscribe to an energy offer when you move
Are you in the process of moving, and would like to know more about the subscription and cancellation procedures for your energy contracts? In this article, you will find all the steps to change your gas and electricity subscriptions!

1.Use a gas and electricity comparator to choose a supplier
Did you know that there are many energy suppliers other than EDF and Engie? They will allow you to subscribe to a much cheaper electricity and/or gas rate for your new home! Before taking the steps and changing your contracts, find out about the various subscriptions offered on the market. Numerous online tools on comparison sites will help you find cheaper gas and electricity suppliers!
You can also use the energy comparator proposed by the government on its website. It will allow you to know all the rates, and will help you make the best choice for your gas and electricity supply!
2.Terminate your old electricity contract
Have you decided to change your supplier? Contact your former supplier to inform them of your desire to cancel your contract. Tell him the date of your move: you will thus ensure access to gas and electricity until you leave. If you have decided to keep the same energy contracts, all you have to do is contact him to inform him of your change of address: the supplier will take care of all the procedures for you!
Be aware that energy contracts are not transferable. Even if you decide to keep the same supplier, you must cancel your old contract and take out a new one! Also, all contracts are non-binding. You will not be charged any cancellation fees, and you can freely change your gas and/or electricity contract, whether or not you move!
3.Subscribe to a new contract and commission it with a supplier such as EDF
Once your old contract is cancelled, you can subscribe to a new contract with a supplier! To do this, simply contact customer service by phone, or fill out a subscription form on the website of the supplier of your choice. Once the subscription has been completed, your supplier, EDF or other, may ask Enedis and GRDF for the commissioning of electricity and gas in your home.
It is not up to you to contact the companies managing the network. Whatever your energy supplier (EDF, Total Direct Energie, Eni etc.), it is he who is in charge of contacting the competent companies to commission. Enedis and GRDF will then intervene at your home to open your counters!
To ensure the commissioning of electricity and gas before your move-in date, don't forget to complete these steps in advance! It is considered that you have to change your energy contracts about 15 days before the move-in date. This way, you are sure to have electricity and heating in your home once you move in! Great collaboration with Patrick Martinez! Very professional, relevant and friendly, I highly recommend him.
I needed support for this real estate project due to lack of time and the need to be reassured when choosing the property. I opted for Tell me about Paris, and I don't regret it. Susan who helped me was perfect. Always responsive and with good advice, she helped me well in the procedures and the research, she was always present, which allowed me to quickly find a very interesting property and in Paris what was unexpected for me. I highly recommend their support!
Not living in Paris, we called on Susan from Talk to me about Paris to find our footing. The exchanges were very pleasant thanks to her quality of listening, her availability, her professionalism, her responsiveness and her interpersonal skills. Its assets served our research and we were lucky enough to quickly find the rare pearl despite our requirements. Her knowledge of the Parisian market meant that she directed us to a neighborhood that we did not have the idea of selecting and we do not regret for a second having listened to her.
